The Sea Around Ireland Hallucinates Ulysses (2020)
A response in film and words to Steve Boyland’s An Odyssey Triptych, a series of effusions for voice inspired by notions of journeying and made at the time of filming. Shot by Sean Borodale while crossing the Irish Sea and later narrated, the work imagines Ulysses, the eternal wanderer, emerging as traces and energies picked up in the sea’s waters, the air’s moisture, the weather, the emission of light and of sun. The work was during the New Lyrigraph Sessions, an ongoing creative discourse between the two artists.
